Even though Lindsey and I weren’t instant friends, for as long as it took us to warm up to one another, it was worth the wait.
We met because two other awesome best friends started a cupcake business together and held a super extensive series of interviews to find the right team to open their Springfield store. Lindsey was hired first and I was hired about four months later to work at The Cup (now The Urban Cup) in downtown Springfield.
This is seriously one of my favorite pictures. Linds and I were caught working the counter when the Springfield MO team came in to snap a photo for their website back in 2011. We’re such babies!
When I met Lindsey, I immediately thought she was hilarious and intimidating.
She had already bonded with our other awesome teammates and I was the new kid. There was already a crew member named Casey so I was Kaycie #2 for a while! Over a lot of closing time dance parties after our boss went home and most certainly too much caffeine thanks to all those free (kind of free) Americanos, we started to become friends.
She likes dogs, horror movies, video games, snacks, and is one of the funniest and most genuine people I know.
It’s sort of been my dream since meeting Linds to dress her up and take pictures of her.
I’m a super creepy friend and I like doing those things. Thanks to Becca I have a partner in crime who shares my need to style and photograph all of our friends, and we’re able to turn it into a blog. Which is arguably more acceptable than a photo album full of weird pictures of people in clothes you like. For Lindsey, we wanted to accentuate her naturally gorgeous but recently bright colored hair. Lindsey is also a homeowner and her home is one of the cutest. I was her roommate for a little while and it was really obvious who had the interior decorating skills, and who was fond of bringing in trash from the street and covering it in glitter.
Linds has a pretty distinct personal style and a lot of her everyday pieces are classic staples, like shirt dresses in black and other dark colors. We wanted to stick with that but play them up with pops of color she might not normally wear. This dress is perfect with a dark denim jacket and Linds look like a total badass holding a chainsaw. Being a homeowner isn’t just buying a house and keeping the inside cute. It’s keeping the yard from turning into a Jumanji-level nightmare and painting and chopping and fixing things. I don’t know how she does it. Probably because Charlie, her Boston-mix, is such a good helper.
What a total babe.
I mean honestly, those features! Her brows! Purple lipstick would look absolutely ridiculous on some, but on Lindsey with her fair skin and dark features it’s perfect. Her living room colors are cozy and soft like this gray couch with white accent pillows, and we especially love the little hidden things like the plastic dinosaur toys she painted gold and propped up around her house.
The goose will eventually live on Lindsey’s front door and either amuse or terrify her guests, depending on what sort of humor they possess. We couldn’t help asking her to pose with it. And how perfect is her hair with this plaid pink and purple skirt?!
Stevie Nicks, no? I did a shoot with Springfield photographer, Steven Spencer and in return he gave me this amazing white dress that screams Stevie. I’ve held on to it waiting for the perfect model to wear it and obviously, it was meant for Lindsey. She looks like such a natural in it. The color makes her hair and lips pop and photographs like it was made for her vivid personality. There were too many great pictures of her wearing this to choose just one. We love vintage pieces like this one, you never know their potential until you see them on the right person. Seeing it on Lindsey totally helps justify a growing collection of dresses that have yet to be worn. Swoon!
The first thing you’ll notice about Lindsey’s house is her bright purple door.
It completely sets her home apart from the rest on the street and it really fits her character. We love how she looks in this big, witchy hat, with the purple of the crop top playing against the backdrop! Such a babe.
Lindsey has been there for me for so many things. She’s given me the tough love I needed when I was doing things I shouldn’t, and she’s supported me when I needed it. I’ve ugly-cried and ugly-laughed in front of her and embarrassed myself more times than I can count. She’s the real thing and I love this foxy woman to the moon and back.
