You guys. We are ONE YEAR OLD! Can you believe it?
Yeah, us either.
It has been one crazy whirlwind of a year and so much has happened since our launch party at Missouri Spirits. We were definitely fashion & beauty lovers when we started but oh man, we have learned a lot over the last 365 days!
We just want to take a minute to say thanks!
Thank you for sticking with us.
Thank you for supporting us and sharing our posts and events.
Thank you for continuing to be the badass babes we know and love.
We have such a crush on each and every one of you.
Is this your first time visiting Gritty Luxe? Welcome! We started this as an outlet for our creative juices. We have a lot of those. We wanted a place where we could celebrate the amazing women (and dude besties) in our lives as well as share our tips and tricks for styling. Voila! Gritty Luxe was born. We’ve had opportunities to talk to musicians and artists, business owners and students, best friends and sisters. It’s been a blast!
We’ve also had opportunities to work with local salons and businesses on fashion and styling events. WE LOVE THE RUNWAY! We love it so much we’re partnering up with our faves over at A Valeria Boss Salon again this year for a runway event unlike any other. For more on that, stay tuned. We promise we won’t keep you waiting long!
But for now, let us introduce one babe that’s been with us since the beginning.
You might remember this little nugget from a shoot we did with her at Gailey’s Breakfast Cafe last year. We put her in some cutie-patootie bowties sold at Arts & Letters.
We love hanging out with Amber, so we HAD to do another shoot with her. This time we wanted to capture the various characters we see shine through in the clothes she chooses. Don’t you think she looks a little bit like Leo DiCaprio in this one? Dreamy, right?
This babe rocks a pair of overalls like nobody we’ve ever seen.
I met Amber a long time ago…before Gritty Luxe, which seems totally crazy to me now. I was a server at a local brewery pub and she worked in the kitchen. I saw her back there peeling tomatillos one day and complimented her on her cute purple hair and asked if I could help her peel.
At first she seemed a little weirded out (I’m an aggressive friend, it’s fine), but eventually we started chatting more regularly and hanging out a little bit. What I’ve learned from Amber is how to have fun. For anyone that’s met Amber, you’ll know what I mean when I say she’s a serious ray of sunshine.
Amber loves animals. Almost too much. (Just kidding, you could never.) If you remember our post about skater babe Madison, you know how we feel about animals. My favorite pet of Amber’s is her chubby little French Bulldog, Rooney. What a happy little nugget!
We love this picture of he and Amber captured by the kind and talented Brenna Stark! Check out her photography page to see more of her beautiful work.
Amber is good at lot of things but recently she’s added DJing at a local drag show to her resume of awesome. We loved the idea of seeing Amber in drag and asked if we could get a little crazy with one of her looks for the shoot. Again, she’s the best so she said OK. Can you say, GLITTER BEARD!?!
How can somebody look so handsome and so pretty all at the same time?
Add a glitter jacket and we’re pretty much in love. For more Amber, head over to Springfield’s hottest brunch joint, the Early Bird Breakfast Pub and let her cook you up something real nice. We’ll totally meet you there!
