Happy Thanksgiving, Babes!
Like a lot of you, our friends are our family.
It’s why we feature so many of them in our fashion and lifestyle posts and why we talk about them non-stop (so many feels). We wanted to throw a little get together and get some photos of the friends we love so much stuffing their faces with mountains of thanksgiving food!
It’s possible that we prepared to a bit too much food for a group of ten people. But around here, we take food pretty seriously.
The Midwest is pretty famous for carb-heavy side dishes covered in gravy around the holidays/always so there may have been at least three crock pots full of potatoes, two kinds of meat, mac ‘n cheese, cornbread, stuffing, green bean casserole, cookies, and all kinds of extras.
a gallon of apple juice
2 quarts of orange juice
2 quarts of pineapple juice
juice of one lemon
6-ish pinches of ground clove
4 cinnamon sticks
a healthy sprinkle of ground nutmeg
In a crock pot or large pot over low heat, combine everything. Bring to a simmer and serve it up hot. Add in a little whiskey for a Hot Wassail with a kick!
Mama’s Mashed Potatoes:
1 bag of red skin potatoes
3 sticks of butter
½ cup sour cream
2 tbsp of chopped garlic
salt & pepper to taste
Chop potatoes into quarters. In a large pot on medium heat, boil your potatoes for about 40-45 minutes. when potatoes are nice and tender, transfer to a large bowl or serving dish and add room temperature butter and mix on low with a hand mixer. Add in sour cream, garlic, and spices and mix till smooth and creamy!
What would Friendsgiving be without a hand turkey! We know you guys remember this one. Everyone traces their hand on a piece of construction paper or poster board and writes what they’re thankful for. Straight up Kindergarten style.
Now, we’re definitely thankful for friends, family, health and happiness…but we’re also thankful for cheese, Kevin Murphy Curl Cream, carbs, and wine!
Real talk time. We are SO THANKFUL for each and every one of you.
Thanksgiving may be about food and naps and hanging out with the people you love but it’s also about being thankful for what we have and celebrating the special people that surround us. We love you guys. We couldn’t do this without you. Stay tuned for more posts and don’t forget to share some of your favorite recipes with us!
Carb love is the best love.
Happy Holidays, babes!
