I’ll give it to ya straight. I’m a little obsessed with Amber.
And a little bit obsessed with her in these bow ties.
This shoot has been in the works for a while. We spotted these super rad bow ties in Arts & Letters many moons ago and fell in love with them. Local all around cool dude Jake Herren is the man behind the designs and we love that they come in fun colors and patterns!
Bow ties might seem like a “guy thing” but what does that even mean?
Women look totally bad ass in them and we could think of nobody more perfect to rock these colorful bow ties than Miss Amber Mills. You might know her from her DJ skills. You might know her from her super cute pet photos with her smokin’ hot girlfriend Kacy. Chances are you’ve seen them strolling through downtown Springfield with their French bulldog Roony or their Great Dane, Klaus. Seriously. It’s stupid how cute they are.
That hair. That smile. We die.
The thing about bow ties is….you’re supposed to know how to tie them. When we came up with the idea to feature super cute bow tie on super cute ladies, we assumed someone would know how to tie them. We in fact, did not. Not one of us. Luckily, Amber’s girlfriend is a total boss and she did a little YouTube research mid omelet to figure it out. She tied every single one of these bow ties. Bless her. Go to Gailey’s for breakfast and tip her well.
Aren’t they adorable?
You guys. Here’s the story of how we met Amber. Settle in.
Amber used to work in the kitchen at Springfield Brewing Company. Yum. She was peeling these little green tomatillos during her shift and I (Kaycie) was serving. Her hair was purple then and it was the first time we’d had a super rad lady doing prep and working in the kitchen so of course, I had to meet her. I started peeling tomatillos with her during shifts in a sneaky attempt to force her into being my friend and lucky me, she totally doesn’t think I’m a total creep!
We totally love this blue on blue on blue combo. Check it. If you’re not wearing a bow tie this summer you’re doing things wrong.
Amber paired these with a classic light denim button up tucked into fitted jeans with a classic belt. We love the idea of mixing it up a little bit and rocking a bow tie with a button up and a skirt. These are funky patterns that are begging to be matched with your favorite summer circle skirt. We do recommend pairing with a collared shirt to hide the back of the bow tie!
Get a gander of those baby blues!
Bow ties are now for sale at Arts & Letters. Woo hoo!
